How to Fix the Flashing White Screen on a Peloton

by | Jan 6, 2021

At some point during your ownership, you may experience a flashing white screen during the initial boot-up of your Peloton.

You may get a message indicating:

“Android is starting, optimizing storage…”

If this is the message you’re receiving, don’t fret.  There’s a pretty simple solution to getting you back online.

Solution

  1. Unplug the bike and unplug the cables to the monitor.
  2. Press the power button and volume up button simultaneously.  Keep it pressed for about 60 seconds.

  3. Plug everything back in.
  4. Press and hold the power button until the Peloton logo is displayed.

You should be up and running.

Causes

Peloton doesn’t have any specific answers as to what causes the problem but being that the operating system is an Android, it could be a number of issues.

In most cases, I suspect it has something to do with a software update…whether it was an interruption of a previous update or there are multiple updates pending due to the bike being left unused for a period of time.

In any event, the solution is the same… a hard reset.
